So glad to hear that your family is okay… my hope is that they have moved to a possible safe location and that all will remain. My heart goes out to them, your friends and colleagues… as well as California. Best wishes

May God bless and keep your family safe. We are in your home state of Connecticut, but our brother is in Santa Monica and we are all concerned, too.

Oh no. It's so hard top have family there and try to monitor from a far! But we found a really great App that has been so helpful to monitor the severity of the fires and the containment. It's called Watch Duty and it's been great! I'm sure you will find it helpful!

Am writing from south of Sydney, Australia - we all are watching the news in horror as we know! Understand more than can be put into words. Only a few years back the area in which I live was surrounded by what we call bushfires for six long months slowly moving on three sides. We could not see across the street and slept on the floor because of the thick smoke indoors also. Were happy when food deliveries could get thru'! For days trucks could not move across police lines. All of the coastal areas were affected so there were no places where we could 'evacuate'. The winds were not quite as high as the Santa Ana ones and we had more water and firefighters arrived from across the world as I am certain they are in California. I can assure you all of us remember and are thinking of you and praying and hoping . . . .

Thank you! Yes it's really frightening when the various "routes out" become blocked! For that I finally convinced my parents to leave now while they can! They are in a hotel now outside the fire zone and I'm sleeping SO much better!! :)

Will do! Yes I finally convinced them to evacuate! And we are monitoring the old house. It's a bit scary as the winds bit up, it could spread further into our old neighborhood. Right now it's just "neighboring"

It really is! Poor California! It gives us all so much beauty, and in return it constantly battles for its survival! It feels so unfair! I'm really afraid for what I might find in February when I return for a visit. Yikes!

Beth thank you for the great recipe and especially now when you are so concerned about your family. I hope your parents are in a safe place. We lived in LA for 10 years and our hearts to go out to your family and all Angelenos during this incomprehensible disaster.

Thanks Meredith! It really unreal when you see images of places you have been 100s of times and have so many memories of, now be destroyed. It's just surreal! I keep thinking too of the wildlife! So horrible for them too.

So grateful your family is ok. We will stand with you for prayers for all and your former sweet home with new family. Our region was affected by hurricane hell-ene and we are still recovering. East TN and Western NC has never seen such destruction ever!!! We had extreme (not normal) flood waters and LA had fires. Both events overwhelmingly tragic and devastating. Hope they get to the bottom of who or what started this. Please keep us posted on your family and your former home. We will all overcome this.

And yes we do have friends that have lost everything, it's just so awful. Hoping they get these fires contained soon! I just can't imagine how this could get worse! It's already so destructive.
