I’m over my jetlag, since coming back from my trip to the States. I must say after 9 months living in France there were a few things that struck me as funny being back in the U.S.A.
This week’s recipe is for a decadent Chocolate Pear Tart. It combines a rich and fudgy brownie texture with sweet, tender pears. The crunchy walnuts make it a highly addictive afternoon treat! Serve it on a cutting board and let guests serve themselves.
Or serve it as a dessert at your next dinner party. Baking it in a rectangular tart pan allows it to punch above its weight for a more sophisticated dessert presentation. No one will ever suspect it’s a “brownie” in disguise.

Here’s Something Cool!
You will now be able to “Shop” my episodes! I’ve found a new platform that allows me to collect all the products I use for each episode in one place, including wardrobe and make-up items! (for those of you who have been asking) It’s SO cool! I receive a small percentage of each item sold (without additional cost to you all), so it’s another way to support my channel if you are in need of anything you see in my videos.
Oh so Chocolatey!
This brownie tart gets its rich chocolate flavor from a chocolate bar and unsweetened cocoa powder. I’ve tried it both ways and I’ve found it’s the combination of the two that provides the best texture and flavor.
The chocolate bar and butter give it a nice fudgy texture, and the unsweetened cocoa powder deepens the chocolate flavor.
I prefer Ghirardelli 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate for this recipe, but here in France, I found an excellent replacement for the same rich flavor, Nestle Noir Chocolate. So if you are here in France, try that!
Melt the butter in the pot first. Then, add the chocolate. A nice layer of melted butter will prevent the chocolate from scorching on the pan.

These are some of my favorite new pieces from Sézane! I don’t know why Substack makes all my natively uploaded videos washed out? But you can see better colors on these pieces here.
I am going to make this for a ladies dinner I am hosting at the end of the month. There is a kitchen store close by, and I am sure they will have this long rectangular pan - which adds to the elegance of this dessert.
Pear and chocolate are my favorite flavors for a cake. This cake look absolutely delicious!♥️
