Need a little treat to bring to your host? Or holiday potluck? Try my decadent Pain d’Epices Recipe!
Pain d’epices is a French spiced bread recipe popular during the holiday season in France. Seriously, it’s everywhere! Grocery stores, bakeries, the local markets and of course the charming “Christmas Markets” which pop up in most towns in mid-December.
This recipe for Pain d’Epices incorporates bittersweet chocolate chunks and orange for a truly decadent twist on a popular French classic. Serve it during an open house, or wrap it up for gifting!

An Easy Cake to Decorate:
This bread looks extra pretty when gussied up with some candied oranges, a cinnamon stick and a little plastic evergreen (available at Micheal’s). A layer of warm orange marmalade is brushed over the cake after it has cooled, creating a nice sticky surface for the decorations to rest on. A little star anise would also be beautiful too!
Wrap it up in a cellophane treat bag, and tie it up with some raffia or a brown velvet ribbon for a festive food gift!
