Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and I have to admit I’m feeling a bit homesick for the holiday. Nothing stokes our national pride more than taking something away you’ve taken for granted for the last 54 years.
I’m not normally a “homesick-type-person”. I’m usually a very “in-the-moment” person; happy to be where I am doing what I’m doing until I decide to do something else.
But this year, “hits different” (as my teenagers would say).
When we decided to move to France, bringing “Thanksgiving with Us” was a non-negotiable. Of course, I would host Thanksgiving, “I’d make it work,” just like the pilgrims did, with whatever bounty I could find in my new home to celebrate in gratitude, all we had been through this year to get to this point. Wasn’t that the original concept, anyway?
