Ask anybody if they speak a foreign language, and they’ll usually shrug their shoulders and say, “Eh, I’m not good at languages.” I always laugh a bit and think, well, nobody is good at foreign languages (in the beginning), that’s why they call them foreign.
I've come to the conclusion that after trying to learn French for the last 25 years (thanks to my French husband and his family, who don’t speak a word of English), you have to be willing to go through The Muck.
