There are two sacred lines you cannot cross in the life of any middle-schooler. The first is doing anything that draws unwanted attention to them, and the second is embarrassing them, seemingly on purpose. Of course, my husband and I did both on my daughter’s first day of French Middle School.
La Rentrée (literally translated means “the return”) in France and is typically the same day for everyone. This year, 12 million students returned to school on September 2nd, a nationwide date that everyone rallies around.
