Amaretti Cookies
Crispy on the inside, soft and chewy on the inside and filled with almond flavor!
Christmas cookie season is officially here! And this year, after spending a few weeks in Italy getting my daughter settled for school, I fell in love with Italian Amaretti Cookies.
They are crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I also add a little orange zest to balance out the almond flavor. They are a great addition to your holiday cookie platter, or enjoy them year-round with an afternoon espresso.

A Naturally Gluten-Free Cookie
It can be hard to find good gluten-free options around the holidays, but these cookies fit the bill since they contain no regular flour but only almond flour. For another great Gluten-Free dessert idea, try my Chocolate Almond Cake.

Life in France Update
Well, we tackled Thanksgiving here in France! If you missed that episode, you can catch up here. Funny enough, the sweet potatoes and marshmallows were a big HIT! Along with the nut pie! The pumpkin pie (as suspected!) was a hard sell.
Anytime cinnamon is involved, the cards are stacked against you here in France (unless it’s in a steaming glass of Vin Chaud). Cinnamon isn’t a spice that shows up a lot in French cooking, so it seems as if the French are hard-wired to dislike it…sigh. Oh well, it just meant more for us ha! My family and I spent days afterward gobbling it up!
Next on the horizon is Christmas! We started shopping for our Christmas Tree “Bush” this week, and next week, in my French Life Stories, bonus posts for paid subscribers, I’ll explain what that experience was like and how it differs from what we see in the U.S!
I am going to try to almond cookies!! So happy you got your daughter settled. You are living the dream!
I am anxious to give this recipe a whirl! Thank you! You make everything sound so easy!! Anyway, I just love hearing about your trips and the information you share about the eateries, the shopping and the museums. We have been to Florence a couple of times but it amazing how one thinks they have seen a lot and yet there is so much we missed!! We will just have to go back...I loved Florence then and all over again just through your videos. Hope your daughter has a terrifically wonderful experience there as a student. What a life!!
